Independent living simply means living a life with greater choice, control, and autonomy. Living with greater independence is a goal for most people living with a disability. Generally, people living with disability need support with aspects of daily living. Becoming more independent will involve a change to the way a person is supported. Working closely with a person’s circle of supports is key to success.

We start with understanding where you want to be in 3-5 years, what you can do currently, assess your potential to live with greater independence and develop a program to achieve the independence goal.

Living with greater independence often involves changes to the way you do a task, where you do a task and how much assistance you receive.

We want you to be able to successfully live with greater independence.
